Kelvin Odih Begins Official Visit With Utah Basketball (2025)

SALT LAKE CITY—Alex Jensen and his new Utah basketball program have shifted focus to recruiting after building out their staff. On Monday, they welcomed four-star prospect Kelvin Odih to campus for an official visit.

Jensen made three more staff additions last week with Eric Daniels, Martin Schiller, and Rico Sylvester joining the program. These additions bring a wealth of experience and connection to help Jensen in this complete rebuild of Runnin’ Utes basketball.

Utah can begin to ramp up their recruiting efforts with more on staff. That begins this week as they will welcome visitors to campus, starting with Odih.

Kelvin Odih has arrived at Utah for an official visit

A four-star talent and top 75 player in the class of 2025, Odih has arrived in SLC for an official visit. Odih played his senior season in California with the SoCal Academy. However, Utah assistant coach Raphael Chillious served as his coach at South Kent School.

That relationship has played a key role in Utah’s chances with Odih. The blue-chip prospect recently decommitted from West Virginia, opening the door for Chillious to recruit him to Utah.

With Chillious leading the program’s efforts, Utah has emerged as a top option for Odih. Getting him on campus is significant for Utah’s odds of securing his commitment.

Odih is a fantastic prospect thanks to his 6-foot-4, 190-pound frame and athleticism. He possesses the athleticism to be a dynamic presence on both ends of the floor. He can make an immediate impact on the defensive end of the floor. He’s an aggressive defender who applies a lot of on-ball pressure to force turnovers.

His athleticism addresses a need on the offensive end, as Utah needs to upgrade its athleticism on the perimeter. Odih can get downhill and into the paint, finish above the rim with authority, and his jump shot has improved from his junior to senior year.

Odih is a big target for Utah; he currently has plans to visit Maryland after his official visit here, but perhaps Utah can close the deal.

Alex Jensen and staff have plenty of recruiting to do to build out the 2025-26 roster

Utah’s current roster is far from finished. With the staff essentially complete, though not fully finalized, Utah can turn greater attention to recruiting.

Odih is a big visitor, but he’s not the only one this week. Terrence Brown is also officially visiting today, and Utah will host two other transfer portal visitors, both of whom were among the top 75 players in their classes.

There are some pieces in place on the roster already, though very few. Jensen and his new staff have work to do to reach 15 scholarship players. The Utes need difference-makers, not just seat warmers on the bench.

Utah’s first transfer portal commit @terrencetbrown has also landed in SLC for his official visit.

Roster building is urgent—but culture is permanent. Jensen isn’t just recruiting players. He’s building a program, and that starts with identity. For Utah, that identity will start on the defensive end.

Utah has picked up commitments from Farleigh Dickinson guard Terrence Brown and Akron big man James Okonkwo. Those two join Keanu Dawes, Ibi Traore, and Alvin Jackson on Utah’s current 2025-26 roster projection.

For Utah fans, these are the sort of talented prospects the program needs and should be involved with more often. Keep an eye on movement from Odih and the two other mystery visitors in the coming days, but Utah seems poised to make a splash.
